How To: Burgundy for Pale Skin

If you are like me and have a lovely pale skin tone, then those darker burgundy and plum colors for fall can be a little scary. Let me show you a way to work these colors into your Fall Makeup Wardrobe using a trend which mixed lighter colors with the dark as well as how to make it work together with your clothing Fashion Wardrobe.

Foundation & Primers:
I forgot my primer today and let me tell ya, it showed!! Pores Galore!
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation in 204
Mary Kay Perfecting Concealer in Light Beige
Maybelline FitMe Matte & Poreless Pressed Powder in 220
NYX Dewey Finish Setting Spray

Eyes
I used the NYX Avant Pop Palettes Pictured
Base: just my foundation and concealer
Crease: #1 this is a light purple toned shade. It's kind of muted but deep
Lid: #2 this is a DEEP burgundy plum shade with a hint of shimmer in the pan. This does not make it shimmery on the eyes, instead it's a bit of a satin finish
Outer V: #3 This is more of a darker taupe brown. Black would be a bit harsh against these darker colors and my skin tone so I wanted to deepen the color with something a little softer.
Highlight Under Brow: #5 This is a pale vanilla color. White would have been too harsh against the dark colors
Inner Corner:#4 This is a little bit of a gold shimmer. It's more of a deep champagne. This keeps the look from looking flat
Bottom Lid: Crease and outer v colors.

Eyeliners
Upper lid AND Upper and Lower Waterlines: Mary Kay Eyeliner in Steely
This is more of a Gray and though it does provide the deep color we need to make this look pop, it once again is not as harsh as black and will give a softer look
My bottom lids are tattooed Black.
Mascara: Cover Girl "The Super Sizer" in Black

Revlon "Peach Glow"; Circa "Cayo Largo"; Wet n Wild "Rose Champagne

Cheeks
Bronzer: Wet n Wild Blush in Rose Champagne. I didn't want a deep or too warm blush to create an even more paler look so I used a softer colored blush as a bronzer and just built the color up to the intensity I wanted. I don't want my cheeks to "disappear" so to speak and look paler but I also don't want to overpower my face with a clown look. Go light, then build up.
Blush: Circa Picture Perfect Powder Blush in "Cayo Largo" This is where I let it get a little dark. I did blend it out within an inch of its life but if you want to use anything with a darker tone on the cheeks in this case, let it be your blush and then blend it out.
Highlight: Revlon Highlighting Palette in "Peach Glow" I used a little bit warmer highlight this time so as to keep the stark Mary Lou from creating a false line.

A great trend right now is to mix a darker color with its most muted version. My favorite and the most popular of this right now seems to be Burgundy and Pink (also known as Cranberry and Blush). I used the Lighter Mauvey Pink Lips to soften and balance out the darker colors elsewhere. This kind of makes the whole makeup look "mesh and blend" together as one whole look instead of several pieces shoved together on the same face. I really loved the way this turned out.

Lips
Liner: Jordana "Rose Crush"
Lipstick: Maybeline "Make Me Pink"
Lipgloss: NYX Butter Gloss "Eclair"

Clothes: For this look, instead of a harsh black shirt (which I love btw) that would pale me out EVEN MORE with the darker makeup, I used a different dark neutral--navy blue. This was pared with shorts the same color as my lips. Sweet!!
